Backstory

On December 25, 2009 Solon and Liam Bailey died from smoke inhalation in a house fire while visiting family for the holidays. Deanna’s failed attempts to save her trapped sons and her ensuing grief irrevocably changed her world. During the year after the boys’ deaths, as she struggled to cope with her traumatic memories and grief, she found that writing about the boys in their afterlife helped her feel closer to them. Crossing the Horizon emerged as she worked through her early grief. Now, Deanna is sharing her story in hopes of helping others who suffer the loss of a loved one.
